How to Get The Most From Your Fitness Efforts

When it comes to getting and staying in shape, most people don’t want to spend their days and nights stuck in the gym. After all, you have work, home, and family obligations…not to mention that it would be nice to relax and enjoy life every once and a while too.

This means that you need to make the most of your exercise time, and one of the best ways to achieve this goal is to mix up your routine. Your body is amazing at adapting to your exercise program, which can plateau your progress, so you need to shake things up a bit if you still want to continue to get results. How?

Here are three results-providing options:

  • Reduce your rest time. The less down time you give your body when working out, the more calories you’ll burn and the bigger muscles you’ll build. For instance, if you’re working on your upper body, while you’re resting between sets, do some squats or lunges. This keeps your body burning calories without adding more time.
  • Add resistance. Since your body is good at adapting, you’ll also benefit greatly from increasing your resistance levels, causing your muscles to work harder. This can be done easily by adding resistance bands or weights to your exercises of choice. A great way to do this is by using them for upper body conditioning while engaged in lower body cardio, such as when you are on a cycling machine.
  • Do burpees. Burpees are one of the most effective exercises when it comes to both building muscle mass and boosting metabolism. Add these into your regular exercise routine and watch your fitness efforts really start to pay off.

Do these three things and you’ll spend less time in the gym while enjoying better results.

What do you do to get the most from your fitness efforts?
