Benefits of Working Out With Free Weights at Home

Most gyms have a more than ample supply of weights and weight machines, allowing you to work any (and all) of the muscles you desire. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a great workout at home using free weights either. In fact, there are a few different benefits to building your muscles without ever leaving your house.

#1: Strength Benefits

Certainly, using weight machines is a great way to build muscle, but you’ll likely increase your mass even more by using free weights instead. The reason is simple. When you use machines at the gym, they’re guiding your body’s form throughout the exercise. However, when you use free weights at home, you have to rely on your own bones and muscles to provide you proper form, which means that you’re working them a little bit harder.

#2: Saves Money

One of the main reasons people avoid gyms is the cost. Even though some have some great monthly deals, it can still be difficult to swing the payments if you’re living paycheck to paycheck as it is. Besides, why pay a monthly or yearly continuing fee when you can simply buy a few weights up front and get good results at home?

#3: Saves Time

Another benefit to using free weights at home is that it saves you time. If you have to get in your car and drive to the gym (driving back home again when you’re done), that is time you could have spent working out if you had your own equipment. It may not seem like much, but it definitely adds up if you exercise often.
