Do you ever look at some of the world’s top athletes and wonder how they get such explosive power? It’s like a stick of dynamite has went off beneath them, allowing them to blast their bodies higher, faster, and with much more force than it even seems possible.
While it is awe-inspiring to watch them perform, you have to wonder how they get their body to such fit and agile levels. Luckily, some of them are more than willing to share their training secrets, making it easier than ever for you to create a workout regimen that can heed you the same results. What is the key?
Increasing Your Explosive Power
The key to increasing your explosive power involves incorporating plyometric box jumps into your training regimen. It is the quick lengthening and shortening of your muscles during the jumps that allow you to develop the power necessary to improve your workouts or to better participate in your sport of choice.
There are many different boxes to choose from, with a wide range of prices so you can spend as little or as much as you like. All you have to do is stand approximately two feet from it with your feet shoulder width apart and jump up, trying to land as softly as possible.
For best results, aim to complete 10-15 jumps on a box that is suitable for your height and fitness level. Ideally, this is somewhere in the 12-30 inch range. However, if you’re new to plyometric box jumps, you’ll want to step down off the box versus jumping down as that may cause injury to your knee area.
Add plyometric box jumps into your strength training routine and you’ll build a stronger, more powerful body. Pretty soon, others will be coming to you asking what your secret is. It’s up to you whether or not you tell them.
