Want to Keep Fit Forever? Sign Up for a Competition!

If your goal is to get and stay fit for the rest of your life, one of the best ways to do it is to sign up for a competition. Whether you want to run a 5K, complete a triathlon, finish an Ultimate Warrior event, or do something else, you will be creating a lifestyle that makes it easier to stay trim and tone for all of your days ahead.

What do you need to keep in mind when signing up for one of these events? First and foremost, you need to create a fitness plan. Keeping your final objective in mind, you need to consider the steps you need to take to get you from where you are now to where you will be when you are event-ready. You can find a lot of help online with this, but don’t hesitate to hire a trainer for some great one-on-one advice.

The second thing you need to do to prepare your body for the big day is eat cleaner. This means removing the pre-packaged foods from your house, right along with the alcohol, and anything that contains white sugar. And if it is a high fat content item, you’re going to want to get rid of that too. Choose foods that are natural and good for you so that your body has what it needs to excel on the big day.

The third, and sometimes hardest part, is to get your motivation into place so that you stay the course and don’t give up on your goal. For this reason, it helps to have an objective that you can easily visualize. Think of yourself crossing the finish line, your hands in the air as you celebrate your victory for all of the world to see.

Do these three things and you’ll have the mindset and the body that will keep you fit for life.

What types of competitions have inspired you to get and stay in shape?
