The Benefits of Bodybuilding

Bodybuilding is defined as “the act of putting on muscle by working out and shaping one's diet to put on more muscle mass.” Simply put, bodybuilding is about getting ripped and looking good by religiously lifting heavy weights and eating right. To most, bodybuilding is one intimidating word. Images of massive freaks, such as Arnold Swarchenegger, fill the minds of people and make them think that bodybuilding is only for the genetically gifted.

This is such a common misconception because bodybuilding is for everyone. Bodybuilding is about being healthy and developing your ideal body and mind. There are two types of bodybuilding, recreational and competition based. This article will be pertaining to recreational bodybuilding for the average every day man or women, not the steroid using behemoths you see on all the supplement packing. Bodybuilding involves engaging to high intensity weight and aerobic training. Putting on muscle and gaining strength are the two main goals of these two bodybuilding training methods. Not only is bodybuilding about getting ripped, it is also incredibly healthy for your bones and joints.

Bodybuilding keeps your body and muscle strong and flexible.

Bodybuilding and weight training can even help prevent osteoporosis and arthritis.

All the focus of bodybuilding is on the physical aspect, but what gets overlooked are all the positive mental effects bodybuilding has. Bodybuilding can vastly improve your mind and mental being. Studies have shown that exercise, such as body building, causes the brain to release endorphins and other mood elevating hormones. Bodybuilding can also provide a major self-esteem boost because of the new good looking body you’re going to have. Self-image problems will be a thing of the past. As you can see, Bodybuilding is for anyone who is looking to gain muscle, obtain the mental edge, and improve their overall quality of life.
