If you’ve set 2015 as your year to challenge your body to reach all new fitness heights, then you are in luck! There are ten events that you really must try, and here they are, in no particular order:
#1: Tough Mudder
The Tough Mudder is essentially an obstacle course that takes place over 10-12 miles (18-20 km). Not only does it test your physical strength and endurance, but it tests your mental toughness too. Over 1.5 million people have already participated in a Tough Mudder, making this event one of the most well-known fitness challenges around the world.
#2: Warrior Dash
Get in touch with your inner combatant by signing up for a Warrior Dash. Although it isn’t as long as a Tough Mudder, covering only 3-4 miles, its obstacles are just as challenging. Plus, you get beer, turkey legs, and music at the end, and what could be better than that?
#3: Wolf Run
The wolf run offers a combination of mud, trails, and obstacles along 10 miles of all types of terrain meant to test every muscle in your body as you run, climb, and crawl through it one movement at a time.
Run through the streets of London (roughly 8 km) dressed in a gorilla costume and you’ll help save these magnificent creatures from extinction while testing your physical strength and endurance at the same time.
#5: Zombie Run
If you’re fascinated by the un-dead, then you want to try a Zombie Run. It is a 5k race that contains both natural and man-made obstacles (around a dozen of them) that you’ll navigate along with hundreds of other zombies who are running too.
#6: Color Run
Although this is just a 5k run, some of the terrain can be extra challenging, depending on which location you choose.
Are you ready to try a triathlon? If so, Lifetime Tri offers many different venues, allowing you to see new sights while challenging your body at the same time.
#8: Spartan Race
Purchase a Spartan Race annual pass and you can attend any number of U.S. challenges in 2015, from the Ultra Beast to the Hurricane Heat. They even offer options for kids who want to test their fitness levels.
Navigate through more than 40 Navy Seal obstacles spread out over 9+ miles and you will find yourself in the midst of the Bone Frog Challenge, which got its name from being the unofficial mascot of the elite Navy Seals.
Grab a friend and take on 40 miles of challenges over a 30-hour timespan. This one will test your friendship as well as your strength, making it one of the greatest challenges you could ever complete!
