Different intensity activities for you to opt for!

If you workout then you must be aware of the fact that physical activities can be done in various intensities. You can workout and can perform different exercises ranging between different intensities. This range of intensity includes light exercises, moderate exercises, and vigorous exercises.  It is important for you to understand the difference between these intensities if you were to indulge in them. These ranging activities make it a lot easier to switch up your workout regimes as following the same workout regime each day causes the body to go immune to them. Now while you’ll be switching your exercises between these different activities you’ll get a chance to experience activities of all kinds of intensities. This will not only help the body but will also allow you with enough time so that your body may be able to recover itself.

What are light intensity activities?

When you are working out, the exercises that require the least amount of effort are called light intensity exercise. These exercises are easy to perform and require zero to the minimum amount of efforts from your side. Any activity that is less than 3 METS, preferably 1 MET, this means that any exercise that is metabolic equivalent, or in other terms, the amount of oxygen that you are consuming during these exercises is similar to the amount of oxygen that you consume while you are resting, are called light intensity exercises. You can however also perform an activity that is 2 METS as well; this means that the amount of oxygen that you will be consuming is basically 2 times the oxygen that you consume when you are at rest. Here are some activities that are classified as light intensity;

  • Cooking food
  • Washing dishes
  • Putting away groceries
  • Child care
  • Billiards
  • Croquet
  • Slow walking
  • And Mild stretching etc

What are moderate intensity exercises?

Moderate intensity activities are all such activities that lie between the range of 3 METS and 6 METS, however, you must make sure that you do no exceed 6 METS. Usually, it is preferred that you only indulge in activities that lie between 3-5 METS only. Moderate intensity activities are basically all those activities that require a comparatively more oxygen consumption when compared to light intensity activities. Moderate exercises cause one to break out in a light sweat, you will be able to talk while you are performing these activities however you won’t be able to sing. These activities resemble the day to day activities that we often perform, and therefore many people don’t even realize that what they are doing are basically a form of moderate activity. So the best way to test out to see whether you are doing moderate activity is to see if can talk and if you are unable to sing. Heer is some examples of moderate exercises are;

  • Cleaning the house
  • Gardening
  • Playing Golf
  • Playing softball
  • Brisk walking
  • And Tai chi etc

When indulging in moderate-intensity activities you are likely to burn 3.5 to 7 calories per minute.

Conclusion:

Indulging in these activities is best for those people who wish to exercises but are new to physical activity. And so with these activities you can to only burn off calories but can also improve their fitness level as well. Plus you won’t get tired that easily as well. You’ll be able to improve your health, build up your stamina and will be able to become fit! Increase the activity intensity after some time and you’ll see how much your body will improve!
