Although weight loss shakes aren’t recommended for long term weight loss, there are times when they can definitely aid in the process. For instance, if you’re stuck at work late and unable to get to healthy food, a shake may be just what you need to provide you nourishment without giving you too many additional calories or fat. Or, if you run out of time to pack a nutritious lunch, a meal replacement shake can stand in as a healthy replacement.
However, if you’ve ever drank meal replacement shakes, then you already know that some are clearly better than others. Which ones are the best? WeightLossTop.com conducted some reviews and here are their top three choices for 2015:
#1: 18Shake
18Shake was number one on the list, coming in at 9.6 out of 10 stars. It is only 90 calories, contains no artificial flavors, is soy free, and is also low in sugar as it only has 1 gram. Researchers felt that it tasted good (especially the chocolate) and worked well as an appetite suppressant, leaving them feeling full for up to three hours.
Yoli Essential Shake was voted second, with a rating of 7.9 stars. The calories are slightly less at 80 instead of 90, and the sugars were just a little more at 2 grams versus one. Like 18Shake, it also has no artificial flavors and is soy free, but researchers didn’t feel that it worked well as an appetite suppressant, even though it had a good taste.
#3: GNC Total Lean™ Lean Shake™
According to the results, GNC makes the third best shake, the GNC Total Lean™ Lean Shake™. Earning 8.5 out of 10 stars, this shake has more than double the calories and sugar of the other two (200 calories and 4 grams, to be exact). However, the researchers also stated that the taste was poor and it wasn’t a very good appetite suppressant, so it is unclear how it made one of the top slots.
