How to Be Happy

fitness as a hobby

Have you ever looked at someone else and wished you were as happy as them? Do you ever wonder why some people always smile and others, perhaps even you, just seem kind of dissatisfied with life?

Even if things aren’t exactly as you’d like them to be, that doesn’t mean that you’re destined to a life of unhappiness. In fact, just the opposite is true. Here are some tips to help you start to feel lighter and more joyful almost instantly:

Smile more often. Research shows that the simple act of smiling helps increase a person’s level of cheer. Try it right now. Put a smile on your face and see what happens to how you feel. You can’t feel down when you; it’s impossible.

Plus, when you smile at others, they’re likely to smile back which makes you feel good too. It’s like the gift that lets you receive more than you give.

Stay in the present. Nothing can zap your contentment with life more than keeping yourself stuck in the past or worrying about the future. The more you live in times other than the present, the lower your level of happiness will be.

For that reason, you’re going to want to keep your mind in the here and now. Focus on what is happening right this moment and truly engage in it. You’ll feel better instantly when you do.

Count your blessings. Even though there may be some areas of your life that you’re not happy with, don’t neglect the areas that are good. Pay attention to everything that is going right versus everything that is going wrong.

If you’re healthy, be thankful for that. If you’ve got a job that pays the bills, express your gratitude. If you have supportive friends and family, let them know you appreciate them. The more you count your blessings, the more they tend to multiply.

Do these three things and you’ll notice your spirits begin to rise almost instantaneously. How’s that for quick happiness?
