Healthy Snacks for Athletes

 

 

Do you have a hard time deciding which snacks are the best for you when it comes to achieving optimal performance and top physical conditioning? Would you like to know which foods will help you be your best both in training and during your sport of choice?

There’s no doubt that what you eat can either help or hinder your athletic progress. The more nutritious the foods that you feed your body, the more able it is to help you reach new levels and achieve new heights when it comes to physical performance.

Here are some healthy snacks that will fuel your body and have you in line for Most Valuable Player:

Almonds

These top quality nuts are high in protein which will feed your muscles the energy and nutrients they need when engaged in rigorous physical activity. Also, because they’re high in fiber, they’ll help keep your digestive system functioning properly so you’re not slowed down by lethargic bowels or uncomfortable stomach issues.

Apples

These crunchy fruits make great snacks for athletes for many reasons. They’re easy to grab, high in many healthy vitamins and minerals and they’re relatively low in natural sugar so they’ll give you the energy you need without sending your blood sugar on a roller coaster of highs and lows that often trigger hard to control cravings.

Cheese sticks

These single servings of dairy are low calorie, low in fat and high in muscle building protein. In addition, they supply some additional vitamin D into your diet so you can protect your bones at the same time you feed your body.

Peanut butter

Although it’s a little higher in fat, peanut butter in reasonable portions can give your body some great protein while still tasting good and satisfying hunger. Eat it with celery sticks or on a slice of whole wheat for a great pre or post workout snack.

Feed your body quality snacks and you’ll enjoy quality results in the training room and on the field. You work so hard to excel at your sport, don’t let what you eat stop you from hitting the top!
