Ever wonder why sometimes you get to bed and find you can’t sleep?

Often lay in bed but find something missing?

Midnight search,  a little snack to nibble on before you hit the sack?

This feeling could be for a mixture reasons most commonly being bored, worried or feeling restless.

Do you know the what food you should consume before bedtime?

The best foods are easy digestible substances such like bananas, milk and oats.

Each of these foods hold a special  hormone which is name melatonin, melatonin is known as the get to sleep hormone and often helps us relax become at ease with our mind, helping the process of sleep.

The worst food to snack on at midnight,

  • Root Vegetables & heavy carbs
  • Cheese & high fat dairy products
  • Cooked meats & Cured Meats
  • High sugary refined foods

These food substances are best avoided before sleep, as they often take longer to break down and digest, also you should be aware of high sugary drinks like cola, as these contain high traces of caffeine.

 

Ideal midnight snacks

  • 150g Oats
  • 1 sliced banana
  • 200 ml semi skimmed milk

Porridge

  • 200g whole oats
  • 100ml milk
  • 150 ml water
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon
