This beef dish contains high amounts of iron and magnesium. Also high in carbohydrates, great hearty energy booster ideal for cold winter days.

Ingredients
- 3kg diced stewing Beef
- 1 diced turnip
- 2 diced onions
- 1 diced carrot
- 1 diced leek
- 2 diced potatoes
- 1 diced celery
- 3 sliced mushrooms
- 50g pearl barley
- 20g tomato puree
- 1litre water
- 2 cubes vegetable stock
- Handful of fresh Rosemary
Method
- Boil water in a pan and add the beef into the pan, boil beef for 1 hour until tender remove from water place and side then add stock to water.
- Add tomato puree, diced vegetables and pearl barley to the stock and simmer for 40 minutes , make sure all of the vegetables are the same size .
- When vegetables reach al dente add the beef and mushrooms to the stew, season and cook for a further 5minutes
- Remove from heat then serve in bowl with fresh rosemary on top and fresh homemade bread on the side.
