The 3 Best Pieces of Equipment for Your Speed Training Routine

 Are you looking to improve your speed? Would you like to know what equipment will help you do that so that you don’t waste your time or money on something that isn’t going to give you the results you want?

Speed training involves engaging in short, rapid bursts of exercise that increase your speed performance. With that in mind, here are the three best pieces of equipment that will help you do just that:

Speed Ladder

When you run through the rungs of a speed ladder (which lies flat on the ground), you become more proficient with your foot placement when engaged in high speed situations. You can either run through the drill placing your right foot in the first gap, left foot in the second, and so on OR you can put your right foot in the first gap and then your left foot before moving your right foot to the second gap and continuing on. Both options work extremely well.

Parachute

By engaging in running exercises that involve the resistance of a parachute that is strapped to a harness you wear, you’re working your legs and giving them the strength and stamina they need to gain speed and endurance.

 

 

Weight Vest

One of the great advantages of training with a weight vest is that you control how much weight to put in it. They come with numerous pouches so you can increase or decrease the weight to focus on your particular speed training needs.

It does you no good if you can’t use your speed training equipment because you’re hurt so, whichever option you choose, be sure to not overload yourself and always use proper form. Remember that safety should always be your number 1 priority!
