Do you get sick rather easily and find that most every bug and virus that is going around eventually finds its way to you? Are you concerned that a major illness may keep you from enjoying your life to the fullest? Or, maybe one already has?
The key to maximum health is to keep your immune system as strong as it can be. That way, it is better able to thwart off any potential invaders and keep them from calling your body home. One way to do this is meditation.
How Meditation Benefits Your Body
Meditation benefits your immune system a few different ways. Probably the most noticeable effect is that it lowers your stress levels, which boosts your immunity all on its own. When you aren’t plagued by worry and anxiety, you are able to better fight off any bacteria or virus that would normally threaten your health.
In addition, regularly relaxing your body and your mind boosts certain chemicals in your brain that help protect you from a variety of major diseases. The healthier you can keep your brain cells, the more you are able to avoid conditions related to memory and learning, and the stronger your overall health will be.
How To Do It
Simply find a quiet place to sit or lie down. Make it as distraction free as possible so that you are able to focus and concentrate. Close your eyes and breathe in and out, paying attention to your belly as it rises and falls with each breath. It may help to even place your right hand on your tummy to feel the air as it enters and exits your body.
Keep your mind focused solely on your breathing, letting all other thoughts leave you and drift off into space. You may feel your mind wander from time to time but, when it does, just bring it back to your breathing. This will keep you focused and allow you to stay in the present, letting go of past regrets and future worries.
Start with 5 minute sessions and work your way up from there. Ideally, you want to get to where you can meditate for 30-60 minutes straight for the best immunity boosting effects.
Recharge your mind, recharge your immune system. It really is that easy.
