The One Piece of Workout Advice You Never Hear, But Should

When it comes to working out, there is a ton of advice regarding what you should and shouldn’t do. For example, you should never lift weights that are way too heavy for you and you should always use proper form to avoid injury. However, there is one piece of advice that you never hear, but could make a difference in your results. What is it?

Smile when you are working out. While it may seem like the expression on your face shouldn’t really impact how your body responds to your exercise routine, it really can.

Part of the reason is that tour body heals better when you are happier. In fact, several studies have found that the happier you are, the stronger your immune system and ability to fight of whatever bug is going around. So, the more smiley you are while at the gym, the fewer the number of workouts you will miss due to having a cold or the flu.

Additionally, you will exercise harder when you are happy. This is largely because being happy puts pep in your step, making you more willing to do what it takes to meet your fitness-related goals. Exercise sessions feel easier because the endorphins that your body releases when happy make you feel much better, sidelining any excuses that may hinder your progress.

Plus, you just look better when you have a smile on your face. Next time you go to the gym, look around you and notice who is smiling and who is not. The people with happier faces will often look better than those that are scowling.

Besides, it doesn’t cost anything to be happy, and it is an emotion that you can spread very easily to others. So, put a smile on your face while working out and see how you can positively influence other people’s days.
