Spinach for Health

If you could achieve maximum health by adding just one food to your diet, would you? If you answered yes, then get ready to include spinach to your menu because of this leafy green packs quite a nutritious punch.

Some foods are just good for you and should be eaten with some form of regularity, while others are so great for your body that they should be consumed on a daily basis. Spinach belongs in the latter group and here are some reasons why:

It helps keep your weight down. Due to the fact that spinach is low in calories (approximately 7 calories per cup) and high in fiber, it makes it a great food to eat when you’re trying to either slim down or maintain a healthy weight. It keeps your digestive tract running efficiently and helps to eliminate those diet-busting cravings.

It keeps you healthier overall. Not only does it help protect against major diseases such as cancer, but spinach also lowers your risk of less serious conditions such as colds and flu. The vitamin A that it contains builds up your immune system and makes you more resilient against whatever bug is going around.

It is good for your vision. Spinach contains two substances called lutein and zeaxanthin. These help your eyes maintain a high level of health by reducing your chances of macular degeneration and cataracts.

It keeps your brain functioning properly. Spinach is loaded with vitamin K which is known to help you maintain good central nervous system functioning. That means that you’ll likely keep your mental sharpness well into your golden years.

Spinach has many positive attributes beyond even these. Add it to your diet regularly and protect your health today and tomorrow.
