Making teriyaki sauce is so simple, you’ll never buy an overpriced sugary soy sauce again. Teriyaki sauce comes from Japanese cookery. The normal ingredients for teriyaki sauce are soya sauce, sake and sugar.
Teriyaki sauce goes great with most rice, noodle, fish or meat dishes. Teriyaki is great for marinading your meat or tofu. Alternatively using as a side dish of fresh crispy tempura vegetables.
I make this sauce recipe normally once a month. One of the best things about teriyaki sauce is that you can use normal white wine instead of sake it’s a great alternative. To make teriyaki all you do is place the sauce in a pan, add the rest of the ingredients and reduce the sauce with the sugar. You can always add extra taste into the sauce with garlic, ginger or chilies.
Basic recipe
- 3 cups of soy sauce
- 1 cup of wine or sake
- 1/2 cup sugar
Reducing the sauce, just place on medium heat for 20 minutes and reduce by half for a thick teriyaki sauce.
