What are Trans-fatty acids ?

Trans-fatty acids are formed in a process we call hydrogenation, this is used when at oil (fat) cannot form solid at room temperature. This process will harden the oil based substance and make it solid, it can mostly be found in margarine’s and other food sources. Trans fatty acids are known to promote high cholesterol and they have a high link with Cardiovascular disease in our bodies.

They are best to be avoided where possible, use unprocessed foods when eating meals and use more natural bases substances like butter or soya spread.
